St. John's wort oil, Hypericum perforatum, 30 ml extract in grapeseed oil.
From the Ancient Greeks to the Middle Ages, St.John`s wort was believed to be imbued with magical powers and was used to ward off evil and protect against disease and even fire. As a folk remedy, it has been used to heal wounds, ease kidney troubles and alleviate nervous disorders. In recent years, it has earned a reputation as an effective anti-depressant.
The blood like colour of St. John's wort oil is a prime example of the 'Doctrine of Signatures' in action. (The belief that herbs resembling various parts of the body can be used by herbalists to treat ailments of those body parts), as the oil is traditionally used to help relieve pain and bleeding, specifically on wounds and bruises.
This oil was made with our own wild harvested St.John's wort, in the traditional method of gathering the plants at midday, at the height of midsummer, on sunday, as this plant is ruled by the sun. We believe that gathering in this way heightens the effectiveness of the remedy in every aspect.
The plant matter was infused into pure grapeseed oil in full sun, until the oil turned red. We then strain and bottle into 30 ml amber glass bottles.
